In a recent corporate leadership restructure, global provider of sports betting, casino, bingo, eSports and poker, Betway Group, has reportedly promoted Anthony Werkman, the firm’s current Director of Marketing Operations, to that of Chief Executive Officer.

Werkman, an experienced industry commercial veteran, replaces Richard Akitt, who has served as the company’s CEO for five years and has taken on the role of Group Chairman and will head Betway’s corporate governance initiatives.

Since 2003, Werkman has led the Malta-based firm’s marketing operations, acting as a key stakeholder in its European and UK market expansion projects.

Werkman commented on his new position, stating that he was honored to be taking on the role as Group CEO at Betway at such an exciting time for the company.

The new CEO went on to say: “Richard and I have worked closely together over the last few years and I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role as Chairman. We have experienced an incredible period of growth over the past few years and are determined to make sure that trajectory continues,” according to SBC News.

Akitt also commented on the leadership restructure, saying: “It’s been a privilege to be CEO of Betway for the last five years, but the time is right for me to hand over the reins to Anthony. I look forward to continuing our excellent working relationship and being closely involved in the strategic direction of the business going forward.”
